Introduction
The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary motive of BITS is to "train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information". The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla - an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing. This university was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani.
Over the years, BITS has provided the highest quality technical education to students from all over India admitted on the basis of merit. Its graduates may be found throughout the world in all areas of engineering, science and commerce. BITS symbolizes the maturing of Indian technical ability and "can-do" entrepreneurial spirit, especially as derived from the private sector. BITS is located in the Vidya Vihar campus adjacent to the town of Pilani in Rajasthan.
Mission
BITS mission is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century.

Placement Cell
The BITS Pilani placement unit employs a structured and systematic hiring procedure. Getting in touch with the business two months before the placement drive is part of their approach. Obtaining information about the work profile, carefully reviewing the requirements and contacting the employer, distributing the job description to the students, and encouraging qualified students to apply for the job profile. The placement cell of BITS Pilani is in charge of organising internship and job campaigns. The placement cell of BITS Pilani conducts several essential operations, including:
- Placement training
- Seminars and Guest lectures
- Industrial visits
- Internship and Placement drives
- Workshops and Projects with industry tie-ups
Placement Process
BITS Pilani's placement procedure has been improved to make hiring as easy as possible for employers and students. The placement procedure has the following life cycle:
- Companies are contacted about two months before the placement season starts.
- Interested recruiters are sent a Job Announcement Form via the central placement portal.
- Following form completion, the requirements are examined, and a mutually agreeable date and time for the presentation and selection process is set.
- The consolidated site sends information about the job description and the company's visit date to the students, and applications are requested.
- The recruiter is given access to the list of prospective candidates. A testing partner could evaluate the pre-process.
- While the recruiters are in school, accommodations for visiting officials are set up at the university guest house, and student volunteers handle the logistics.
- A letter of intent is published by an authorised corporation representative following the conclusion of the selection process, results announcement, and dissemination of the results.
Scholarship
BITS Pilani offers scholarships, fellowships, and other forms of financial aid. Candidates must meet the eligibility conditions set by the college to avail of the scholarships. Further details about the BITS Pilani scholarship are given below.
Institute Merit and Merit-cum-Need Scholarships
- These prizes are available to students enrolled in Integrated First Degree Programs.
- The merit awards cover the entire semester and entrance fees for the top ten students in each batch, 50% or 25% semester, and admission fees for those chosen for merit-cum-need awards.
- Students eligible for merit awards are automatically considered, whereas students who want to be considered for merit-cum-need awards must apply each semester in response to the relevant announcement.
- These grants benefit little more than 20% of students on average.
- All prizes are for one semester only, and continuation in the next semester is contingent on the candidate's performance at the BITS Pilani.
Student Aid Fund
- This fund may also be used to provide financial help.
- These honours are usually given only in the second semester. In response to a notice, students must seek help.
Other Scholarships and Aids
- Birla Institute of Technology and Science scholarship and financial aid applications are also forwarded to external agencies by the Student Welfare Division.
- When a student has a particular need, the division makes every effort to assist them in any way feasible.
