Introduction

Indian Institute of Technology Patna is one of the new IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on August 06, 2008.

Patna which was known as Patliputra has been a center of knowledge since long has been attracting visitors and scholars from many parts of the world such as China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, among others. This has been a land of visionaries. Some of the legends from this region include Lord Gautam Buddha, Lord Mahavir, Guru Gobind Singh, the famous astronomer Aryabhatta and the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

IIT Patna has ten departments: These are Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Humanities & Social Science departments.The Continuing Education Programme (CEP) has been started to meet the workforce training and knowledge up-gradation technology needs of the industry, academia, and research organisations. The main aim of CEP of the Indian Institute of Technology Patna is to impart knowledge related to the frontiers in science, technology, and management to the people who want to upgrade their learning relevant to their field of interest. CEP of IIT Patna is dedicated to assisting working professionals in widening their knowledge base and improving their skills. Moreover, it is meant to provide training in cutting edge areas to the industry professional of this country to make them globally competitive. • M.Tech candidates should have a valid GATE rank or scorecard.

• M.Tech Selection Process candidates with a valid GATE/ GPAT score card and satisfying the eligibility criteria are selected for the interview and counselling process.

Research Admission Eligibility Criteria

IIIT  Patna offers a PhD course the candidate needs to fulfil the minimum requirement for enrollment in the eligibility criteria mentioned below

• P.h.D. candidate should have completed M.Sc or M.Tech with good academic records and/ with a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ ST) with a valid GATE/ IIT JAM/ UGC/ CSIR-JRF/ DBT-INSPIRE.
• A candidate with BE/ B.Tech from any IIT institute with an 8.0 CGPA is exempted from GATE qualification.
• A candidate with BE/ B.Tech from any IIT institute with an 8.0 CGPA and above with a valid GATE scorecard.
• A candidate with M.Sc from any IIT with an 8.0 CGPA is exempted from any national level entrance examination.
• P.h.D. selection process for IIT Ropar PhD admission 2023 is based on eligibility criteria and a valid GATE score or CSIR-JRF/ UGC/ NBHM.

Scholarship

IIT Patna offers various scholarships to its students. These scholarships are offered to ensure that the students can pursue their education without any hurdles. Central Scheme Scholarships: The objective of the scheme is to recognise and promote high-quality education among children from low-income families by giving complete financial support. SC students will be covered under the scheme if they wish to continue their education beyond the 12th grade.

State Scheme Scholarships: Details can be found on the scholarship webpage of the relevant state government.

UGC Scheme Scholarships: The IIT Patna scholarships scheme provide equal chances for higher education in the Northeast. To place a greater emphasis on professional education in the Northeast, etc.

Institute Scholarships: The IIT Patna awards scholarships based on merit rather than financial need. The scholarships are offered to deserving students. It is available to undergraduate students or students enrolled in a two-year M.Sc degree.

Donor Scholarships

• For remarkable all-around performance, strong organisational ability, and leadership qualities in a 4th year UG student in the CSE department. The CSE department will recommend a name. Cash prize worth Rs 10,000 on convocation will be honoured.
• The best first-year UG student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, admitted through JEE, with a CPI of 8.00 or higher in the second semester, would be considered for the Indian Institute of Technology Patna scholarships. The scholarship would be of Rs. 30,000
