About Us
Overview
Amrita College of Nursing has instituted itself to cater the need of growing demand for better and efficient nurses today and in days to come it is established in the academic year 2003-04. The college is built up in 3.05 acres of land with superb infrastructure on the N.H.33 of Ranchi–Patna Road opposite to Abdur Razzaque Ansari Memorial Weavers Hospital (Apollo Hospitals Group), IRBA, Ranchi. Florence College of Nursing is committed to offering development and learning opportunities to its students.

Opportunities In Nursing
Many people’s conception of nursing is limited to “caring for frail or sick old people in a home or hospital ward” It is true that more nurses than ever are needed to provide that type of care. But many nursing specialities and careers can take you beyond. Nurse midwives, help deliver babies and help women to stay healthy and avoid complications during and after pregnancy perinatal also known as neonatal or obstetric nurses monitor and care for women before, while, and after they deliver babies. Peri operative nurses assist before, during and after surgery. Public health nurses attempt to keep entire communities as healthy as possible by preventing and controlling the spread of disease and the incidence of environmental related health problems, as well as by educating people how to maintain their well-ness. They are employer by community organizations ranging in size from camps and schools to city health departments. They are recruited at Government Hospitals & Private Nursing Homes and Individual home, big organizations to look after their employee. They can also make their independent services in their particular areas. And they all make them earn both money as well as social reputation thus. Nursing has a great opportunity ahead. Course Offered:-
Basic B.Sc Nursing ( 4 Years )
Duration Of Study
- The course of study shall extend over a period of 4 academic years from the date of commencement of his/ her study of the subjects comprising the nursing curriculum to the date of completion of examination. Terms and vacations shall be as notified by the university from time to time.
- The course of study comprised of 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th year B.Sc (Nursing). A candidate shall undergo a course of instructions on the following extending over a period of one/ two academic years.
Eligibility for Admission
A Candidate seeking admission shall have:-
- Pass in 10th/+2 Examination.
- Pass in two year intermediate equivalent recognized by JAC with Science subject viz. Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Obtained 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry , Biology and English. In case of SC/ST/OBC, relaxed to 40%.
- Age – completed 17 years.
- Fair knowledge in English is essential. Should be Physically fit with sound mental health.
Certificates Required for Admission
Attested copies of the following certificates to be sent along with the application form:-
- Marks card of the qualifying examination (JAC/CBSE).
- SSLC marks card (with date of birth).
- Transfer certificate.
- Migration certificate.
- Conduct certificate from Institution last attended.
- SC/ST/OBC certificate (if applicable)
Note:
- Clinical training means 8 hours of integrated clinical duties in which 2 weeks of evening and night shift duties are included.
- Clinical training should be carried out as 8 hours per day @ 48 hours per week.
- Students during Clinical training will be supervised by nursing teachers.
- Students will be eligible to appear in the Fourth year final examination only after completion of Clinical training.
- Attendance :
- A minimum of not less than 80 % attendance in theory and practical / clinical separately in each subject in each academic year is essential for appearing in the examination. A candidate pursuing in the course shall study in the college for the entire period as a full time student. No candidate is permitted to work in a hospital / nursing home / laboratory / college while studying this course. No candidate should join any other course of study or appear for any other examination conducted by this university or any other university in India or abroad during the period of registration. Each academic year shall be taken as a unit for calculating the attendance.
- Internal Assessment :
- Regular periodic assessment shall be conducted throughout the course. Although the question of number of tests is left to the institution at least three tests in theory and practical each year be held. The test preceding the university examination may be similar to the pattern of university examination. Average of the marks of the three tests for theory and practical separately shall be sent to the university.
- A candidate shall secure not less than 50% of marks prescribed for internal assessment in theory and not less than 50% marks prescribed in practical, separately, in each subject/paper to be eligible to appear in the university examination.
- Schedule of Examination :
- The university shall conduct two examinations annually at an interval of not less than 4 to 6 months as notified by the university from time to time. A candidate who satisfies the requirement of attendance, progress and conduct as stipulated by the university shall be eligible to appear for the university examination. Certificate to that effect shall be produced from the Head of the institution along with the application for examination and the prescribed fee.
Post Basic B.Sc Nursing ( 2 Years )
Duration Of Study

Note:
- Examination fees to be paid separately by the students as per university Norms.
- Transportation charges to be paid by the students separately.
- The students are expected to buy the prescribed uniforms and books and Otherstationaries at their own cost
- It is compulsory that every selected student should stay in the hostel.
- Discontinue Course: – There will be “No refund” of fees paid for the admission.
They have to pay the whole course fee if they withdraw from admission

General Nursing Midwifery ( GNM )
GNM referred to as General Nursing and Midwifery it deals with the education of nurses in general health care, nursing, and midwifery. It is a 3 years long Diploma program. The academic program is 3 years long and 6 months are dedicated towards internship. The internship is mandatory. This program will boost your career prospects. After completing this course, successful candidates may register themselves as registered nurses or midwives with the state nurse registration council.
Duration Of Study
- There will be two Examinations every year. One Annual examination in August and a supplementary examination in February. Theory examination will be held in the identified centers and practical examination will be held in the clinical area of respective institutions. Examinations will be held both in the morning and the afternoon sessions.
General Nursing Midwifery
- Duration of Course : 3 Years
- 10+2 Class or Equivalent with Aggregate of 40% Marks.
- Age Limit: Minimum 15-35 Years
- Medium of Instruction: Hindi & English
- Arts/Commerce / Science any Stream With English.

Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM)
Duration Of Study
- ANM or Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery is a two-year diploma programme in the field of Nursing. Interested candidates can apply for ANM diploma after passing their class 12 exam with Science or Arts stream. The two-year course includes six-months of compulsory internship. ANM diploma is the most basic diploma course which can be opted as a starting step towards making a career in the Nursing field. Graduates of ANM diploma can start their career by working with community health centres in urban or rural areas.
- In India the average ANM diploma course fee ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 60,000 per annum. Which may vary based on the universities/colleges’ standards. ANM diploma graduates can expect a starting salary in the range of Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000.
