The college is 100% residential to facilitate the students for easy movement to theory classes and practical classes in different institutions as required. The college library facilitates all course materials and books to the students. Special Coaching classes are arranged for Spoken English, Computer Software Applications and one foreign language other than English for overall development of the students.

On completion of B.Sc. nursing degree course the graduates will be able to:

  • Assess the health status, identify nursing needs, plans, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients/clients that contribute to health of individual, families and communities.  
  • Demonstrate competency in techniques of nursing based on concepts and principles from selected areas of nursing, physical, biological and behavioural sciences.

  • Demonstrate skills in communication and interpersonal relationship.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision-making abilities in various situations.
  • Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in community health setting.
  • Demonstrate managerial skills in community health settings.
  • Practice ethical values in their personal and professional life.
  • Participate in research activities and utilize research findings in improving nursing practice.
  • Recognize the need for continued learning for their personal and professional development.   

Nursing is a caring practice comprised of both an art and a learned scientific discipline guided by sound theoretical and factual bases. Professional nurses practice according to a code of ethics, standards of care, and professional guidelines. The faculty defines nursing holistically as the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health problems or needs of individuals, groups, families, and communities. Nursing's major responsibility is the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, accessible health care services to promote health, prevent disease, and treat illness across the lifespan. Nursing interacts with other health care professions to create optimal climates for healing and wellness. Nursing is a component of a changing health care system, which is influenced by economic forces, technological advances, scientific discoveries, and the public voice.

AIMS:-

  1. The B.Sc. degree in nursing is a broad based education aimed to build high skilled, competent Nursing Graduates. It is specifically directed to develop critical thinking skills, competencies and high standard required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in National Health Policy. The course is intended to enable the graduates:
  2. Assume responsibilities as professional competent nurses in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
  3. To make independent decisions in nursing situations, to protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, to function in hospital, community nursing services and to conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in clinical / public health settings.

Conduct & Discipline:

  1. Students are responsible (to the college authority) for their behavior, both inside & outside the College.
  2. Students should maintain silence in the classes, library, reading room & in the corridors when lectures are in session.
  3. Students should make every effort to take care of the college hostel & hospital property & help in maintaining them. They should not write graphitis on the walls or the blackboard nor scribble on tables & furnitures.
  4. Any willful damage done to the property of the college hostel & hospital will be dealt with as a breach of discipline.
  5. If a student is required to get leave from the college or hospital in the middle of the day for an emergency, the student must get the sanction from the class teacher/supervisor & a letter must be produced from the parent or guardian.
  6. When a student wants to withdraw from the college, his/her parents or guardians should intimate this in writing giving the reason for it.
  7. Students are required to abide by the rules & regulations laid down by the college and hostel authority.
  8. Violation of the rules shall attract disciplinary action according to the discretion of the college authorities & if necessary, expulsion from the college may be considered depending upon the seriousness of the violation.
  9. Students are required to maintain the ethical & professional behavior laid down by the college, hospital & community premises
  10. Rules are subject to addition or alteration.
  11. Parents/guardians must meet the principal as and when called for.
  12. Students are not permitted to use mobile phones while on class or on duty.
  13. Parents and guardians are required to furnish their specimen signature in the presence of the class teacher, at the beginning of every academic year. These signatures are required for verification as & when required.
  14. Hostel occupancy is compulsory. Hostel Rules & Regulations will be detailed at the time of allotment of hostel seat.
  15. All decisions taken by the college authority are final & binding.

Course offered:-

1.General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM): This course is affiliated to Indian Nursing Council & Assam Nursing council, recognized by Government of Assam.

  • Age criteria: 17 to 35 years (Both Male & Female)
  • Course Intake: 30 students per batch
  • Duration: 3 years
  • Eligibility: 10+2 (Preferably Science) or its equivalent with aggregate of 45% marks for General Candidates & 40% for SC/ST candidates

2. Auxiliary Nursing Midwife (ANM): This course is affiliated to Indian Nursing Council & Assam Nursing Council & recognized by Government of Assam.

  • Age Criteria: 17 to 30 years
  • Course Intake: 20 students per session
  • Duration: 2 years
  • Eligibility: 10+2 or any other equivalent examination
