According to World Health Organization there are 20.7 million nurses worldwide in 2020 and there is a global shortage of Nurses and 18 million more jobs are needed to be filled by 2030 inorder to meet the requirements of universal health care for everyone. As the shortage grows steeper and the healthcare landscape continues to change, nurses and their leader should be attentive to the trends that are changing the industry.

A wide-ranging career field, nursing is one that never has a dull moment on the job. The overall career field of nursing provides economic stability and job security,both highly attractive to nursing graduates. People study nursing for many reasons and often have differing goals for the resulting career that the field has plenty of job opportunities and comes with a great degree of respect and satisfaction. Nursing is a profession in which the threat of unemployment is very rare. The essential perquisite of any nursing actions is its scientific validity. Nurses are thus becoming increasingly rational and scientific in their approach to nursing care. It is the nurse who is in contact with the patients most of the time. Hence a desired trained nurse should have certain personality attributes such as, a degree of mental health to deal with seriously ill, thus common sense, practical bend of mind, calm, sympathetic , sensitivity with certain amount of toughness so as not to get involved emotionally, organising ability, power of observation, ability to take responsibility and at the same time be able to follow instructions.

Our Faculties

Our Faculties believe in providing nursing education based and built on scientific principles and sound educational theory and practice in order to prepare professionally qualified nurses, who will be able to function as a team member, in all health care agencies in the role of a practicing nurse. The graduate with experience can rapidly move into leadership positions in Nursing Education, Nursing Service and Administration

We promote all-round development of the students with special emphasis on human, moral, psychological, cultural, intellectual and spiritual aspects which is required to prepare a professional nurse who will be a contributing citizen and an effective "change agent" in an ever changing society.

General Nursing Midwifery

GNM referred as General Nursing and Midwifery it deals with the education of nurses in general health care, nursing, and midwifery. It is a 3 years long Diploma program. Academic program is 3 years long and 6 months are dedicated towards internship. Internship is mandatory. This programme will boost you in career prospects. After completing this course, successful candidates may register themselves as registered nurse or midwife with state nurse registration council.

Admission Criteria :

The contraction for the GNM course is General Nursing and Midwifery.
Karnataka GNM 2021 Eligibility Criteria

1. Successful qualification of class XII from a known educational board.
2. If possible, science subjects as the main subjects of study at the 10+2 level.
3. A total mark of 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).

Departments

MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING

The unique characteristics of Medical surgical department is understanding disease pathology in all aspects of human body.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING

Community health nurses are backbone of health care delivery system. They provide health care services at doorsteps.
We conduct school health programme,health awareness campaign regarding family planning, nutrition etc. Students are motivated to participate in all National health programmes organized by District health office , Shimoga.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING

Paediatrics is concerned with well being of child toward optimal growth and development. We conduct clinical nursing practice at specialized child care hospital and visit creche, Anganwadi and challenged child care centre.

OBSTRETICAL AND GYNAECOLOGICAL NURSING

Deals about pre, intra and post-natal period,diseases related to Female reproductive system. We conduct clinical rounds, incidental teaching,demonstration and evaluate clinical performance.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING

Main moto of the department is to impact education related to mental health, insight into mental illeness, prevention and management.
Students will experience real situation and apply the skills acquired to care the mentally ill patient.

ADMISSION FOR G.N.M

Eligibility for Admission

A Candidate seeking admission shall have :

• Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
• Minimum Education: 10+2 class passed preferably Science (PCB) & English with aggregate of 40% marks.
• 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY, passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.
• 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board with 40% marks.
• Registered as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council.
• Student shall be medically fit.
• Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination or Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY conducted by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks.

SMART CLASS ROOMS

Classrooms are designed for accomodating 100 students which fullfills the guidlince given by the regulatory bodies.
Every classroom is provided with ergonomically designed seating arrangement , smart board and cctv camera.
Each batch has separate classroom with necessary facilities.

LABORATORY

Inovative teaching methods are used with the help of Laboratories according to the specialities furthur more enhancing the learning experience and along with well equiped computer lab.

College is attached with 250 bedded parent Hospital in campus along with attached Hospital for specialities.

Provision for safe and secure inhouse hostel facilities with mess services. Keeping in mind , "Cleanliness is Godliness". Hostel are equipped with CCTV, safe drinking water and security with efficient warden available 24/7.
