Welcome to Christ College
The inception of Christ College is the realization of the longing of the people of Saurashtra and Kutch, for an efficacious centre for Higher Learning. Christ College, started in 1998, has the distinction of being the first multi-faculty co-ed English medium college in Arts , Science and Commerce in Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat and it provides quality education to the youth so as to enable them to take up the challenges of the morrow.

HISTORY

The inception of Christ College is the realization of the longing of the people of Saurashtra and Kutch, for an efficacious centre for Higher Learning. Christ College, started in 1998, has the distinction of being the first multi-faculty co-ed English medium college in Arts , Science and Commerce in Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat and it provides quality education to the youth so as to enable them to take up the challenges of the morrow.
College started with 114 students in St Mary’s School building in 1998. On December 25, 2000, the foundation stone of the new college building was blessed by Rev. Gregory Karotemprel, the Bishop of Rajkot diocese, and laid by the then Union Minister of Gujarat, Dr.Vallabhbhai Kathiria and the then Finance Minister Shri Vajubhai Vala. The new premises of Christ College at Vidya Niketan were inaugurated on December 25, 2001 and launched into fame by the eminent scientist, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Christ College believes in continuously striving towards excellence and this has propelled it to the forefront in the field of education. The college applied for NACC certification in the month of January 25, 2002 and was inspected by its team for three days from July 31, 2002. The college was awarded Five Star status by NAAC in September 2002.
Christ College also achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification from TUV Rheiland, Berlin-Brandenburg Group, Germany in September 2003.Thus it became the first college in Gujarat to achieve this quality benchmark.
Challenging the time successfully, Christ College, Rajkot, completed the Re-accreditation process in January, 2010 and was awarded “B” grade with the CGPA 2.89 by the NAAC. It is the youngest college to go for re-accreditation in the short span of its run at state as well as national level and to come out with flying colours. Christ College recognized by UGC under 2(f) and 12B of its act, 1956.

Christ College stands as a source of knowledge to its students and entrusts them with the responsibility to share what they have received with the society and the world at large. Thus it aims at creating a better society in all respects.
Since its inception in 1998, Christ College has emphasized the need of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for an all-inclusive development of the students. To actualize them in real terms, there are various clubs, associations, cells and committees in the College. Faculty members are entrusted with the responsibility of these units. The multi-faceted activities planned and organized by them provide an enriching experience which would enable the students to reach new heights in their professional life.
In addition to the regular undergraduate programmes in Science, Arts, Commerce, Management and Computer Applications, Christ College, Rajkot runs three UGC sponsored Career Oriented Programmes (COP) and other certificate courses. These certificate courses provide an opportunity to the students to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Christ College, Rajkot, was one of the youngest colleges to be accredited by the NAAC in 2002. The College was re-accredited in January 2010 and was awarded ‘B’ grade with the ‘CGPA of 2.89’. We are now in the process of the third round of accreditation and hope to improve our performance and grade. Our focus is on providing quality education, curriculum development, initiating postgraduate and skill development programmes, research and reaching out to the community.
We are fortunate to be backed by a team of highly talented, dedicated and committed faculty members. With a very amiable and professional environment, our faculty members make substantial contribution to the academia through quality teaching, curriculum design, publications, conferences, etc. They are actively involved in their pursuit of creating and disseminating knowledge through teaching, research and training. The corporate and industry interactions not only provide hands-on experience but also help in placement of our students.
