This is one of the best Nursing Colleges in Punjab state, which is run by prestigious educational Society Sangat Bhai Pheru Sikh Educational Society Faridkot establish in the year of 1970. Dasmesh College of Nursing was established in the year 2009. Dasmesh hospital has all multi-specialty departments where students learn highly proficient nursing care in a well-disciplined environment. Within the Nine years of short span of time, under the guidance of Dr. Gursevak Singh, Director and sincere effort from all faculties, Nursing College has achieved remarkable appreciation from the various levels of community. Students who have joined this college are really fortunate by all the means. Nursing occupies the largest bulk of the health care force. Healthcare industry is transforming itself day by day. The professional nurse provides holistic care with compassion, empathy and respect for clients, dignity while educating them to achieve maximum level of health.
We at Dasmesh college of Nursing strive to achieve Quality in education while ensuring overall development of the students. We also recognize the importance of providing a supportive and simulative learning environment using innovative teaching & learning strategies and technological advances.
SCOPE OF NURSING IN INDIA
- There was a time when professional nurses had very little choice of service because nursing was centered in the hospital and bedside nursing. Career opportunities are more varied now in India for a number of reasons. Career options include:
- A staff nurse provides direct patient care to one patient or a group of patients. Assists ward management and supervision. Directly responsible to the ward supervisor.
- Ward sister or nursing supervisor, responsible to the nursing superintendent for the nursing care management of a ward or unit. Takes full charge of the ward. Assigns work to nursing and non-nursing personnel working in the ward. Responsible for safety and comfort of patients in the ward. Provides teaching sessions if it is a teaching hospital.
- Department supervisor/assistant nursing superintendent responsible to the nursing superintendent and deputy nursing superintendent for the nursing care and management of more than one ward or unit for example the surgical department or out-patient department.
- Deputy nursing superintendent responsible to the nursing superintendent and assists in the nursing administration of the hospital.
- Nursing superintendent responsible to the medical superintendent for safe and efficient management of hospital nursing services.
- A Director of Nursing is responsible for both nursing service and nursing educations within a teaching hospital.
- Community health nurse (CHN) services focus on the reproductive child health programme.
- Teaching in nursing. The functions and responsibilities of the nursing instructor include planning, teaching and supervising the learning experiences for students. Positions in nursing education include clinical instructor, tutor, senior tutor, lecturer, and associate professor, Reader in nursing and professor in nursing.
- Industrial nurses provide first aid, care during illness, health education about industrial hazards and prevention of accidents. The Military Nursing Service became a part of the Indian Army, and nurses became commissioned officers who earned ranks from lieutenant to major general.
- Nursing service abroad, salaries and professional opportunities have led to increases in nursing service abroad.
- Nursing service administrative positions. At the state level the Deputy Director of Nursing at the state health directorate. The highest administrative position on a national level is the Nursing Advisor to the Govt. of India.
- Nursing Informatics is also a scope for Nurses in India . Indian Nurses uses Information Technology for patient care, for example Digital thermometer to EHR.
- Independent Nurse Midwife Practitioner pilot project completed successfully.

GNM (3 Year)
Selection Criteria:
- Minimum age for admission will be 17 years (as on 31st December of that year). The upper age limit is 35 years for ANM/For, LHV, there is no age bar.
- Minimum education, 10+2 class with 40% aggregate Marks.
- 10+2 vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
- ANM training (i.e.) 10+1½ years training should also have +2 or its equivalent examination.
- Students shall be medically fit.
- Entrance / Selection Test: Selection of the candidate should be based on the merit of 10+2 Marks and the entrance examination held by competent authority.
Remarks:-
- Days Scholars are not allowed for any nursing programme, only one or two students on the discretion of principal will be allowed.
- Married candidates are eligible for admission for any Nursing Programme.
B.S.c Nursing (4 Year)
Selection Criteria:
- The seats will be filled by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by conducting centralized counseling for admission as per Punjab Govt. notification. No. 5/7/2016-5HB-III/2147 dated 13/05/2016.
- The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31 December of the year of admission.
- The minimum educational requirement shall be the passing of:
- Higher Secondary school certificate examination (12 years course) Or Senior School Certificate examination (10+2). Or An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English) with minimum of 45% aggregate marks PCBE.
- Candidate shall be medically fit.
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (2 years)
Selection Criteria:-
- The seats will be filled by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by conducting centralized counseling for admission as per Punjab Govt. notification.
- Passed the higher secondary or senior secondary or intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university.
- Obtained a certificate in General Nursing Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the state nurse’s registration council. A male nurse, trained before the implementations of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with state nurses registration council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:
- O.T. Technique/ Ophthalmic Nursing/ Leprosy Nursing/ TB Nursing/ Psychiatric Nursing/Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing/Community Health Nursing/Cancer Nursing/ Orthopedic Nursing
- Candidate shall be medically fit.
- Entrance/ Selection Test: Selection of the candidate should be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by BFUHS or College or as per Punjab govt. notification or by competent authority.
M.Sc. Nursing (2 years)
Selection Criteria:
- The seats will be filled by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by conducting centralized counseling for admission as per Punjab Govt. notification.
- The candidate should be a registered nurse and registered midwife or equivalent with any state nursing council.
- The minimum education requirements shall be passing of B.Sc. Nursing/ B.Sc. Hons./Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum 55% aggregate marks in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
- Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (after or prior).
- Candidate shall be medically fit.
