The Dhanbad School of Nursing came into existence in early 2013, is situated within the campus of Asarfi Hospital in Dhanbad. With limited healthcare options in the Coal Capital, and fewer nursing institutions in the adjoining areas, Dhanbad School of Nursing was founded with the aim to proffer skilled and competent individuals ready to face the challenges of the Healthcare Industry.

The Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) course started in 2013. In 2013, the Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi & Jharkhand Nurses Registration Council (JNRC) approved the intake of 30 students per annum in the ANM.

In 2017, the school introduced General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM), along with the thriving ANM course, which also got recognized by INC and affiliated by JNRC. It has an annual intake of 40 students per annum.

We are proud to start Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing program from the year 2018. Admissions are open.

OBJECTIVE

Dhanbad School of Nursing believes in, “Service”. With our excellent faculty and support of Asarfi Hospital in various regards, we aim to prepare Nurses with real-life knowledge, best practical training, excellent behavioral skills and quality operational acumen, so that they can deal with the demanding, complex, diversified Nursing care services with vigor and zeal.

An alumnus of Dhanbad School of Nursing must be able to:

  • Demonstrate awareness and skills required in Nursing in the provision of healthcare.
  • Assess the nursing needs of patients, families and communities.
  • Plan appropriate action to meet the needs of the patients through competence and care.
  • Ensure that the patients retain their best possible level of health.
  • Work with other members of the health team and community to promote fitness, prevent illness or be able to deal with any kind of medical outbreak.
  • Show sensitivity and skill while communicating and interacting in his/her work.
  • Decision making skills in case of life threating situtations
General Nursing Midwifery

Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or GNM is a 3-year diploma course in paramedics. It focuses provision of care to individuals, families, and communities. The discipline has been designed to attain, maintain and recover optimal health and quality of life from conception to death. The course can be pursued after successful completion of the 10+2 level of education.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
  • Minimum education:
    • 10+2 class passed preferably Science (PCB) & English with aggregate of 40% marks.
    • 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Health care Science – Vocational stream ONLY, passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.
    • 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board from the school and recognized by Indian Nursing Council with 40% marks.
    • Registered as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council.
  • Student shall be medically fit.
  • Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination or Health Care Science – Vocational stream ONLY conducted by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks.
  • Student shall be admitted once in a year.
