About Hayat Institute Of Nursing Education
The concept of opening up a Graduate and Diploma nursing program has conceptualized by the members of the Hayat Foundation since its inception back around 2011 under the Chairman, Late Dr. Ziaur Rahman. The Trust was formed in the year 2013 having its registered office at Odalbakra, Lalganesh, Guwahati-34.The members strongly felt the need of qualified nurses to fulfill the demand of current health care Industries. The trust has kept in view many upcoming social activities to be undertaken in near future. The vision of the Trust is that ‘Hayat Institute of Nursing Education should be the best academic centre for Nursing Education, Nursing practice and Researchâ€Â. The Institute obtained recognition from the Indian Nursing council, New Delhi and affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati .Institute also received the approval from Assam Nursing Council.

Objective

History of nursing goes back to the beginning of human society where they used to take care of their group members during their need specially at the time of childbirth and sickness.
The first organized training programme for nurses was established in 1860 by Ms. Florance Nightingale –the founder of modern nursing as ‘Nightingale Training School for Nurses’ at St. Thomas Hospital in London. In India, Millitary Nursing Service was formed in 1927 and it had 12 Matrons, 18 sisters and 25 staff nurses. They were responsible for supervision and training of Nursing sections of all Indian Hospitals.
Nurses are no longer confined in the four walls of a hospital taking curative measures, they are prepared to provide promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care to the population during sick and well. In the present scenario, there are manyfold scope of nursing starting from direct patient care to various special departments like nursing education, community health and other nursing specialities, management, administrative services and public relation. Hayat Institute of nursing education is considered one of the premier institute with the objective of an inclusive nursing as well as welfare melieu. We strive to enhance our students to be technically and socially efficient.
Established in 2015 under Hayat Foundation the institution is pertaining undergraduate and diploma level nursing programmes affiliated to Srimata Sankaradeva University of health Sciences(SSUHS) and Assam Nurses’ Midwives’ and Health Visitors’ Council respectively with its recognition from National Accreditary body – Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi. It is a matter of pride for Hayat family that in the recently conducted 1st year B.Sc.(N) final examination under SSUHS one of our student secured 1st rank. We are confident of achieving such result in future days. There is a shortage of nursing professionals all over the world. The scope of this profession are ample. Our institute tries to help the young aspirants in achieving these wonderful potentialities.

B Sc. Nursing
Aim of B.Sc. Nursing course:
Nursing is a profession that not only develops the personality of an individual but also brings changes to the society. The aim of the course is to prepare the students to function as responsible health team members with competencies in the hospital as well as in the community.
Objectives:
On completion of the four years B.Sc. Nursing program the graduate will be able to:
- Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing care to individuals, families and communities.
- Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors which affect health of individuals and groups.
- Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups & practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct, and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.
- To provide best possible teaching to the students who are going to be a part of future member of health care delivery system.
Duration of the course:
- Course Duration = 4 Years
- Weeks available per year = 52 weeks
- Vacation = 8 weeks
- Gazetted holidays = 3 weeks
- Examination (Including preparatory) = 4 weeks
- Available weeks = 37 weeks
- Hours per week = 40
- Hours available per academic year( 1st to 3rd year) = 1480 (37 weeks x 40 hours)
- Hours available for 4th year = 540 hrs ( 14 weeks x 40 hrs)
- Hours available for Internship = 1690 hrs ( 48 hrs per week)
- Total hours for 4 years = 6130 hours
G.N.M. Nursing
Aim of Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM):
The basic aim of the diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery is geared to the health needs of the individual, family, community and society at large by preparing nurses with sound knowledge & skill to function as an efficient member of the health team through their personal and professional development with technological advancement.
Objectives:
The diploma nurse on completion of this course will be able to:
- Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing care to individuals, families and communities.
- Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.
- PProvide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.
- Communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission in GNM:
- Minimum age for admission will be 17 years as on 31st December of that year. The upper age limit is 35 years. For ANM and for LHV there is no age bar.
- Minimum education should be 10+2 passed in Arts or Science stream with aggregate of 45% marks.
- Those who have cleared 10+2 vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
- 5% relaxation is permitted to SC/ST/OBC students.
- Students should be medically fit.
Number of seats: Number of seats available for admission is 40.
When the student proceeds on Annual leave; parents/ local guardian shall take full responsibility of their children being taken from the hostel and brought back to the hostel.

Course Duration of GNM = 3 Years
- Weeks available per year = 52 weeks.
- Vacation = 6 weeks.
- Gazette holidays = 3 weeks.
- Examination (Including preparatory) = 5 weeks.
- Available weeks = 38 weeks.
- Hours per week = 40.
- Practical = 30 hours per week.
- Theory = 10 hours per week.
- Internship practical (Optional) = 48 hours per week
- Hours available per academic year = 1520 (38 weeks x 40 hours)
Admission:-
Eligibility for Admission in B.Sc (Nursing):
- The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years at the time of admission and maximum 24yrs on or before 1st July in the year of admission.
- Minimum 50% in higher secondary in science stream: Physics, Biology, Chemistry (PCB) with English.
- Minimum 45% & above in PCB with English for SC/ST/OBC.
- A certificate stating of good conduct from principal of college/ school the candidate last attended.
- True attested copies of High School Leaving Certificate and Mark sheet.
- True attested copies of Higher Secondary/pre-degree Certificate and Marksheet.
- Admission is made on the basis of the entrance test comprises of written test and personal interview.

Application procedure:
- The application form should be obtained from office, of Hayat Institute of Nursing Education, in submission of Rs. 500 by Cash/Demand draft/Bankers’ cheque drawn in favour of Hayat Institute of Nursing Education.
- All columns in the application should be duly filled up by the candidate.
- The following documents should be enclosed along with the application:
- H.S. Passing certificate
- H.S. Mark sheet
- School leaving certificate
- Migration certificate from university/ board.
- Community certificate belonging to SC/ST/OBC
Method of selection & admission:
- The entire eligible candidate will be required to be appear in entrance examination and will be provisionally selected on the merit basis.
- The test will include questions in physics, chemistry, biology, general knowledge and general ability.
- The test will be in English medium.
- A limited number of candidates will be selected for the final interview.
- The candidates will be allowed for the interview provided they obtain qualifying mark in the entrance examination .
- The decision of the selection committee will be final.
Medical Examination :
- Medical fitness will be precondition for admission to the institute. Selected candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board of the Institute.
