Course offered:-

General nursing and midwifery (GNM)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:
• 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable.
• 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council
• 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
• Registered ANM with pass mark.

For foreign nationals

1. The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above
2. Reservation
3. For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme. Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%.
4. 5% of total marks is relaxed for SC/ST candidates
5. Any other reservation as per the State Govt.

Note: Reservation shall be applicable within the sanctioned number of the seats by INC and not above it.

1. Admission of students shall be once in a year.
2. Students shall be medically fit.
3. Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as on 31st December of that year) The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM/ for LHV, there is no age bar.

 Admission / Selection Committee

This committee should comprise of:

• Principal/Chairperson
• Vice-Principal
• Senior Tutor
• Chief Nursing Officer or Nursing Superintendent

Eligibility for Admission to Examination
A candidate shall be eligible for the admission to the state Council / Board examination if the Principle of the school certificate that:

1. She / he has completed not less than eleven months of the course
2. A candidate must have minimum of 80% attendance (irrespective of the kind of absence) in theory and practical in each subject for appearing for examination. The diploma shall not be awarded to the student till she / he has completed the clinical/ field requirements.
3. A Candidate must secure 50% marks in internal assessment separately in each theory and practical.
4. The record of practical experience is complete.

(The Principal shall send to the Council / board the internal assessment for each subject, i.e. both theory and practical (S) before the start of the examination along with the examination form).

Diploma Stipend

• GNM 3rd Year (First 6 months)- Rs. 1000/-
• GNM 3rd Year (Last 6 months)- Rs. 3000/-

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. N)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
2. Minimum education:
   • A candidate should have passed in the subjects of PCB and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in PCB at the qualifying examination (10+2).
   • Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central government having science subjects and English only.
   • A candidate belonging to SC/ST or other backward classes, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 45% as stated above.
3. Candidate shall be medically fit.
   • Candidate shall be admitted once in a year.
   • Reservation Policy:
   • For disabled candidates : 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomoter to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.

Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by  medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of  locomoter of 40% to 50%.

Entrance / Selection test: Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by University or competent authority.

Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc. N)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
• The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of : B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
• The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
• Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
• Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
• Candidate shall be medically fit.
• 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidates may be given.

Doctor of Philosophy

OVERVIEW
The PhD Programme in Nursing was launched with the objective of enabling the Nursing personnel to develop advance research skills in nursing and to prepare the nurse educators, administrators and practitioners to carry out systematic research to improve the quality of nursing care. The program will enable the nursing personnel to give evidence – based nursing care to patients / clients in various settings. The PhD program in nursing is designed to develop nurse scholars experts in nursing pedagogy and are prepared to conduct advanced research. Nurse scholar will synthesize knowledge from nursing and related disciplines as they assume leadership roles in diverse educational environment. The program is designed for nurses interested in pursuing a career in academia with a research focus on nursing education with nursing core courses, research courses and support courses.
