It is my desire that the KIMS College of Nursing fosters Nurses who are not only good professionals but are well versed in the recent advances in Quality Nursing Care. BSc Degree in Nursing – Four Years
OBJECTIVES :
On completion of the four year BSc Nursing programme the graduate will be able to:-
- Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioural sciences, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
- Provide nursing care based on steps of the nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups. Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical and community health settings.
- Participate effectively as members of the health team in the health care delivery system.
- Provide preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.
- Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills and communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
- Conduct need-based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.
ELIGIBILITY :
ACADEMIC :
Candidates seeking admission should satisfy the following requirements.
- Candidates should pass PLUS TWO examinations of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or equivalent examinations recognized by KUHS with an aggregate of 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology and 50 % marks in English.
- Candidates who passed their qualifying examination from outside the State of Kerala should produce the certificate of recognition and equivalence of the qualifying examination from KUHS.
- It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the qualifying examination he/she has passed is recognized by the KUHS as an eligible qualification for admission for BSc. Nursing course..
- The candidate should produce a migration certificate if it is needed.
AGE :
- The candidate should complete 17 years of age as of 31st December of the academic year.
- No relaxation of the minimum age will be allowed.
MSc. Degree in Nursing – Two years
OBJECTIVES :
Upon completion of the two years MSc Nursing programme, the Postgraduates will be able to:
- Utilize and apply the concepts, theories and principles of nursing science.
- Demonstrate advanced competency in the practice of nursing science.
- Practice as a nurse specialist.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as a nurse educator and manager.
- Demonstrate skill in conducting nursing research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health-related research and biostatistics.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in nursing practice and in the health care delivery system.
- Establish a collaborative relationship with members of other disciplines.
- Demonstrate interest in continued learning for personal and professional advancement.
ELIGIBILITY :
- The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Midwife with Kerala State Nursing Council Registration.
- The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of a regular degree course in nursing – ( BSc Nursing / BSc Hons. Nursing/ Post Basic BSc Nursing), with a minimum of 55 % aggregate marks.
- The candidate should have undergone a regular degree course in nursing (BSc. Nursing / BSc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic BSc Nursing), in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
- The candidate should have a minimum of one year of work experience after a regular degree program or one year of experience before or after PBBSc nursing ( the working experience after the concerned nursing registration only will be considered)

Rules and Regulations
- The students will be directly under the disciplinary control of the Principal and should abide by the rules and regulations of the Institution.
- The students should maintain the standard and decorum of the College.
- Students are liable for disciplinary action for misconduct, inefficiency or neglect of duty, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Institution, which are read and accepted by them. Anti social activities like ragging ,alcoholism, drug abuse, smoking or any others will be viewed as serious crimes .
- The student should possess university syllabus and hand book of rules and regulations of the Institution.
- The leave/ absenteeism should be informed to authority on time.
- Students should be punctual in attending their duty and submission of assignments
- Parents Teachers Meetings are organized after each sessional examination and during emergency to discuss the academic program and discipline.
- The students should wear the prescribed uniform throughout the class/duty hours. The uniform should be kept neat and tidy.
- Candidate should remit the fees as stipulated by Government / Management during the first month of every academic year.
- A cumulative record is maintained for each student. General conduct / behaviour will be monitored and documented.
- The students are expected to maintain high academic and clinical standards of performance throughout the programme.
- Regular class tests are conducted subject wise and will be recorded in the register.
- At the end of each academic year, a model examination is conducted before the University Examination.
- Statement of internal marks will be made on the basis of regular marks obtained from regular session exam and model examination.
- Progress record is to be signed by the parents at the meeting conducted after each session examination.
- A record of clinical evaluation is made to assess the standard of performance of the students.
- Those who do not internal marks and attendance as per university norms are not permitted to appear for university examination.
- On completion of course, each student will be provided with a detailed transcript
