About Us

Situated amidst pristine surroundings at Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) is the first and only Teaching Hospital of its kind in these areas.
Vizianagaram has a great socio-cultural heritage but lacks good healthcare facilities. The district has an area of 6539 sq.kms and a population of 22,45,103 as per 2001 census. the density of population 343 with 82% being rural with 51.82% literacy. There were 11 public and a community hospital with 836 beds, and 104 medical officers and 6 dispensaries, 51 primary health centers. There are 37 beds and 5 doctors per one lakh of population, prior to the establishment of the MIMS. It is the endeavour of MIMS to provide such services in this area. The tribal belt of Araku is not very far away and MIMS wishes to cover these areas as part of its out-reach services.

Spread across a vast area, The Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences consists of two blocks of 1,10,000 sq.ft and 90,000 sq.ft respectively. The 740 bedded Hospital occupies an area of 3,10,000 sq.ft.

HISTORY

MIMS college is training the medical students in such a way they are getting highest number of distinctions, first classes from first year to final year. Our students are getting gold medals for academic excellence. This institution is known for strict discipline, highest academic standards and unparallel sports activities. In each batch, 2/3 of the students are girl students and their parents are overwhelmingly happy to keep their daughters in this institution for their utmost security and personal protection.
Eventually, Sri Rama Educational Trust should become unique in offering medical education and medical services. Parents should feel proud to admit their wards in this prestigious institution. Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences sponsored by Sri Rama Educational Trust was established in the year 2003 at Nellimarla, Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh. Before starting this college, not only from Vizianagaram district but also from the surrounding districts people were not having proper medical facilities for their health problems and medical education for their children. Since, the inception of this college, that issues were taken care and the people of 2, 3 districts are feeling comfortable. This is one of the oldest private medical colleges in Uttarandhra.
Since the inception under the management of Sri Rama Educational Trust, for the last 13 years, MIMS is not failing any time in rendering health services to the people of 3 districts and part of Orissa state also. This institute has introduced “Kanna Thalli Padakam” for pregnant women and other various schemes to treat the patients. By conducting hundreds of medical camps, the institute has become very popular among the public. The institute always lived in the hearts of the people for its relentless efforts in giving the best medical services according to the needs of the people. The management has got culmination of vision to take this institute to the Deemed University status and expand their horizon to take care of the patients needs.

The seed of idea of starting a medical college has erupted in the mind of a successful industrialist, agriculturist who won several awards, educationalist and philanthropist born visionary Dr. Alluri Murthy Raju garu by the grace of Lord Sri Rama. That erupted seed of a medical college has became a plant, over the hills from where one can see Lord Rama Temple of Ramatheertham. From then Dr. Alluri Murthy Raju garu relentlessly worked hard to bring a shape to this institution. The extent of sacrifices made by Dr. Raju garu is known to himself and Lord Rama. Dr. Alluri Murthy Raju garu established Sri Rama Educational Trust in the year 2000. Day and night worked hard to develop this 100 seated college in to Post-graduate College with 150 MBBS seats. The ultimate goal of master visionary of Dr. Alluri Murthy Raju garu is to see this medical college in to a Deemed University at the earliest.
