COURSE

BSc Nursing Degree Course (4 Years Course)

ADMISSION

1. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the B.Sc., Degree course in Nursing (Basic) should have passed the qualifying examinations (Academic Stream) after period of 12 years of study with the following subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology.

Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of the institution a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized medical officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the academic course

The minimum educational requirements shall be passing of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course) (Or) Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), pre-degree Examinations (10+2) (Or) An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized Board or University with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum 4% aggregate marks (PCBE); for SC/ST candidates – the minimum percentage of marks is 40%

2. AGE LIMIT FOR ADMISSION:

A candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete the said age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the B.Sc. (Nursing) degree course.

3. ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE:

The candidate who has passed any qualifying examinations other than the Higher Secondary Course Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, before seeking admission to any one of the affiliated institutions shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate from the University by remitting the prescribed fees along with application form which shall be downloaded from the University website (www.tnmmu.ac.in)

FACILITIES @ MARIA COLLEGE OF NURSING

Building

Spacious, well ventilated three storied building constructed as per the norms of Indian nursing council with adequate lecture halls, laboratories, staff room etc. An excellent room which is fully equipped with latest educational technology including smart board system is provided.

Class rooms Lecture halls:

Adequate number of spacious, well ventilated, lecture halls with comfortable seating arrangements equipped with traditional & modern teaching aids like black board, LCD projectors and Overhead projector are available.

Staff rooms:

Well-equipped and ventilated separate rooms for principal, vice principal and HOD’s faculty and staff are available.

Faculty:

The college has qualified and well experienced faculty to cater to the needs of the students.

Laboratories:

• ‘Education without Application is just entertainment.’
• Without hands on training it becomes difficult to assimilate and process knowledge gained in the classroom.

Fundamentals of Nursing Lab:

Students are trained in Basic Nursing procedures & Advanced procedures. This lab consists of cots with mattresses, charts, mannequins, advanced Nursing Models, instruments & articles necessary for procedure demonstration Nutrition Lab:

This lab is well equipped which facilitates students to learn to prepare various kinds of therapeutic diets.

Maternal and child health Lab

Students are trained in Advanced procedures and skills related to the specialty. This lab consists of charts, mannequins, delivery model, instruments & articles necessary for both midwifery and pediatric procedure demonstration. Anatomy Museum

Spacious, ventilated & well equipped with seating arrangements and charts, posters, 3 D models, Skeletons etc.

Community Health Nursing Lab

Spacious, ventilated & well equipped with seating arrangements and charts, posters, models, health education plans. Family Health folders & records related to services provided to the adopted villages are maintained by students.

Audio-visual Lab

It is well equipped with various kinds of audio and visual aids such as charts, posters, LCD projectors DVDs, VCDs, CDs necessary for purpose of teaching, presentations, seminars, demonstrations, workshops and other group activities.

Computer Lab

This lab is well equipped of computers with internet facilities useful for students for Research activities. A provision is made to access e-journals.

Clinical facilities

The clinical experience is being imparted at the Parent hospital. The specialty clinical experience is gained at various affiliated GOVT hospitals and in and around the college.

Multipurpose Hall

Spacious, well ventilated and equipped with seating arrangements, AV aids such as LCD projector, it is used for conducting various academic and nonacademic programmes. Also used for conducting term exams.

Community facilities (urban / rural)

The college has adopted urban and rural villages for community health nursing practice.

Central Library facilities

College is attached to a spacious, well ventilated and equipped central library in the campus. The library is computerized with rich collection of latest reference books, journals, periodicals, newspapers, magazines and e-journals. There are computers with internet facilities. A departmental library in the college is also available for students and staff for quick reference and usage.

Hostel facilities:

A separate accommodation is available for boys and girls. Spacious, well ventilated and furnished hostel is available with basic amenities including safe drinking water supply, sanitation & hot water for each floor, and facilities such as reading room, recreation room, sick room, visitor’s lounge, and telephone facilities are available. Hostel is safe and provides 24 hours security services. A mess with hygienic nutritious food is provided in the campus. Students are expected to adhere to hostel rules and regulations. Ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus.
