MVJ College of Engineering was established in 1982 under Bangalore University affiliation as a flagship institution of the Venkatesha Education Society by Dr. M. V. Jayaraman with a vision to develop MVJCE as an Institute of academic excellence with high standards.

Affiliation and accreditation.
- All the courses offered by MVJ College of Engineering are affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi & approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
- Aeronautical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Information Science and Engineering programs offered by MVJ are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
- Like all higher education institutes in India, MVJCE is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).[6] MVJCE is also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and some courses are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).[7] It is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a B++ Grade.
Departments and courses.
- MVJ College of Engineering offers 11 undergraduate programmes and 5 post graduate programmes across various branches of Engineering.
Undergraduate.
- These departments offer four-year undergraduate courses in Engineering. The following programmes are offered: Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Science Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Mechanical Engineering.
Postgraduate.
- These departments offer two-year postgraduate courses in engineering. The following programmes are offered Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering. Master’s in Business Administration with dual specialization in HR/Finance/Marketing is also offered by MVJCE.
Research Centres.
- Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry are recognized as Research Centres by VTU to pursue Doctoral Programme.

Highlights
MVJ College of Engineering is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and approved by the AICTE, and UGC. It is accredited by the NBA and NAAC. MVJCE was established as a private college in 1982 and is ranked 67 for BTech by The Week 2021. The college has five schools of study namely the School of Computer Science, School of Electrical Science, School of Mechanical Science, Basic Science, and School of Business. The college has 12 departments that offer 13 UG, five PG, and six PhD programmes across various streams of Engineering and Management. The top companies taking part in the placements drive are IBM, Airtel, Accenture, and many more.

MVJ College of Engineering accepts an online mode of the application process. For BE admission, candidates need to qualify Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) or JEE Mains entrance examinations. Admission to MTech and MBA is based on valid Karnataka Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) or CMAT scores. UG (4-year) Placement Trends: 2019 Vs 2020 Vs 2021
A rising trend in the median salary was witnessed during MVJ College of Engineering UG (4-year) placements over the past three years, 2019, 2020 and 2021. PG (2-year) Placement Trends: 2019 Vs 2020 Vs 2021
A rise of 7% in the median salary was witnessed during PG (2-year) placements 2021 when compared with 2020. However, the median salary in 2020 remained the same as in 2019. For more clarity check out the graph below:

Scholarship
Dr. M.V.Jayaraman Foundation Scholarship:
Scholarship will be considered for only one academic year. To avail the scholarship for the next academic year, the student needs to submit the renewal application form, along with the necessary documents, 2 weeks before the commencement of the odd semester.
The following terms need to be satisfied by the applicants:
To renew the scholarship, the candidates need to score CGPA as given below every semester-
a) Merit 1 - CGPA > 7.8
b) Merit 2 - CGPA > 7.0
c) Merit 3 - CGPA > 6.0
Note:
- Any new application or renewal application of the scholarship after the due date will be rejected.
- The candidates need to re-apply, along with the result documents duly attested by the Principal.
- If any student fails to score CGPA as per the Merit structure in an academic year, he/she will not be eligible to apply for a scholarship in the next academic year. Such students need to pay the regular Tuition Fee and College Fee as per the Management Quota.
- The student needs to have 85% attendance in all the subjects.
- The student should not ha ve been involved in any activity which is in the nature of indiscipline or tarnishing the reputation of the institution.
- If the scholarship beneficiary discontinues his/her course, the complete benefit of the scholarship
- The MVJCE Scholarship Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any Scholarship Application.
The college provides financial assistance to its meritorious students by Dr. M. V. Jayaraman Foundation. It offers scholarships based on the previous academic performance of the applicants. MVJCE is offering over 550 scholarships every year to meritorious, and deserving students. The scholarships schemes are listed below:
Scholarship 1: The scholarships for UG students under the AMPCK Quota will be awarded on the following basis:
- Class 10 and Class 12 marks
- Rank in Karnataka-CET examination (conducted by Karnataka Examination Authorities)
- Rank in JEE Examination (conducted by National Testing Agency)
Scholarship 2: Scholarships to the postgraduate students will be awarded on the basis of:
- UG percentage
- Rank in PG-CET examination (conducted by Karnataka Examination Authorities)/ Gate
- Rank in MAT/CAT Examination
