About Us
Welcome to Narayan Nursing College. We ensure that your time with us is a successful and rewarding one. The onus being on holistic preparation of nurses, the Narayan Nursing College, was established in the year 2012, with the twin objective of providing quality nursing education and manpower development with the highest level of education and practice. Narayan Nursing College is approved by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Bihar Nurses Registration Council, Patna.
The spacious campus, fully equipped laboratories, lecture halls, auditorium and offices comply with the Indian Nursing Council norms. Till date the college has the reputation of producing able GNM nurses who provided commendable services.
From the Year 2017, B.Sc. Nursing , Post basic diploma in Neonatal, Critical care, Emergency and Disaster Nursing has been commenced.

About the Trust
Lt. Deo Narayan Singh and Lt. Mangla Devi Parents of Sri Gopal Narayan Singh had a dream for a hospital in their village to take care of badly needed health needs of deprived people of Rohtas District of Bihar. Keeping their dream in mind Shri Gopal Narayan Singh formed a trust by the name of Deo Mangal Memorial Trust. Under his guidance the Trust open a charitable hospital by the name of Narayan Chkitsalaya with the sole aim of catering to health care need of poorest section of the society. The hospital has catchment area of Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad and Bhojpur in Bihar and Garwah and Palamu in Jharkhand.
Slowly and steadily the hospital became very popular in masses and it was decided to convert the hospital in a medical college by the name of Narayan Medical College & Hospital, to give better services and do research work. It also provided opportunity for higher education which was badly lacking in this part of the world. It also gave immense direct and indirect employment to the local masses.
Narayan Medical College & Hospital has always being considerate about the healing and the very theme “Hamara Sapna Swasth Bharat Ho Apna” with the philosophy of making disease free INDIA by not only treating patient in our hospital but also graduating and post graduate doctors every year who will spread all across India to make India healthy.

Narayan Nursing College was established in the year 2012. It is approved by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Bihar Nurses Registration Council, Patna. It is equipped with most modern infrastructure, qualified faculty, excellent educational and co-curricular facilities. The goal of the College is to prepare the graduates in Nursing to provide comprehensive nursing care and prepare postgraduate nurses to assume responsibilities as nurse Specialists, Consultants, Educators and Administrators.

GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery)
Aims
The basic Diploma course in General Nursing & Midwifery is geared to the health needs of the individual family, community and the country at large. The aims of the Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery programme are:
- To prepare nurses with a sound educational programme in nursing to enable them to function as efficient members of health team, beginning with competencies for first level positions in all kinds of health care settings.
- To help nurses in their personal and professional development, so that they are able to make maximum contribution to the society as useful and productive individuals, citizens as well as efficient nurses.
- To prepare nurses to keep pace with latest professional and technological developments and use these for providing nursing care services.
- To help nurses develop an ability to co-operate and co-ordinate with members of the health and rehabilitation of sick.
- To serve as a base for further professional education and specialization in nursing.
Objectives
The nurse on completion of this course will be able to;
- Demonstrate competency in providing health care to individual, sick or well, using the nursing process.
- Provide effective nursing care for maintaining the best possible level of health in all aspects.
- Plan and carry out the appropriate action to meet nursing needs.
- Assess the nursing need of clients from birth to death.
- Apply problem solving techniques in nursing practice.
- Promote self care in people under their care.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care.
- Assist in research activities.
- Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skills in her work.
- Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with other members of the health team and community.
- Participate as a member of the health team in delivery or curative preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health care services.
- Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
- Mobilize community resources and their involvement in working with the communities.
- Recognize the need for continuing education for professional development.
- Demonstrate use of ethical values in their personal and professional life.
- Demonstrate the interest in activities of professional organizations.
Duration : Duration of the course shall be three years & six months including internship.
Vacation : 30 days vacation shall be given each year.

- Eligibility Criteria For Admission (for Indian) :-

- 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable.
- 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM. course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing council.
- 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.
- Registered ANM with pass mark.
For foreign nationals:
The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.
2 .Reservation:
- For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.
Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%.
- 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.
- Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy
Note: Quotas shall be included in the seats sanctioned and not above it..
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
The PB BSc Nursing is a two-year program offered by Narayan Nursing College. This programme helps the graduate to be charged with the responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing comprehensive care in promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.
Eligibility
- Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose. Those who have done 10+1 in or before 1986, will be eligible for admission.
- Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council. A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with the State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by the Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:
- O.T. Techniques
- Ophthalmic Nursing
- Leprosy Nursing
- TB Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Cancer Nursing
- Orthopedic Nursing
- Candidates shall be medically fit.
- Students shall be admitted once in a year.
B.Sc. Nursing
B.Sc Nursing is a bachelor degree program offered at the university level. The undergraduate nursing program is broad-based education within an academic framework as envisaged in national health policy 2002.
B.Sc Nursing at Narayan Nursing College is approved by Indian Nursing Council and affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University.
The aim of this program is to prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services, who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of individuals in pursuit of health.
The students may function in the hospital, community – nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of Nursing Practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical/public health setting.
ELIGIBILITY
- The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
- Minimum education:
- 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core/English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.
- Student shall be medically fit.
- Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School with 45% marks.
- Student shall be admitted once in a year.
CURRICULUM : As per Indian Nursing Council
Post Basic Diploma in Emergency and Disaster Nursing
One year specialization course is offered in Emergency and Disaster Nursing which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.

- Possess a minimum of one year experience as a Staff Nurse
- Nurses from other countries must obtain an equivalent certificate from INC before admission

Post Basic Diploma in Neonatal Nursing
One year specialization course is offered in Neonatal Nursing.

M.Sc Nursing
M.Sc. Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing is a Two-Year Postgraduate academic programme offered in different specialities. The MSc Nursing programme prepares and advances student nurses with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to improve quality of nursing education and practice. The programme provides opportunities to explore research as evidence for enhancing the evidenced based practice and aims to advance the student nurse’s aptitudes in becoming confident, analytical and research aware. It is designed to enable the graduates with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing to acquire greater knowledge and understanding in order to function efficiently and effectively as clinicians, educators and managers, and to assume professional leadership.
Eligibility
Pass in BSc Nursing or Post Basic BSc Nursing with 55% of Marks from a recognized University + One year work experience after any State Nursing Council registration. Selection of the candidates shall be based on the merit of the entrance examination.
Clinical Specialisation
- Medical Surgical Nursing -10 seats.
- Community Health Nursing – 5 seats.
- OBG Nursing – 5 Seats.
- Paediatric Nursing – 5 seats.
- Psychiatric Nursing -5 seats
Ph.D.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR RESEARCH SCHOLARS Applications are invited from eligible scholars who have obtained:—
(a) M.Phil. (Nursing) or M.Sc. (Nursing) or a Post Graduate degree in Nursing recognized by Council with 3 years teaching or Clinical experience after M.Sc. (Nursing) for enrolment for Ph.D. in Nursing (part-time) under Faculty of Nursing in the respective University.
(b) The scholars should have passed M.Sc. (Nursing) with a minimum of 60% marks.
(c) Working in Teaching Institution/Hospital/Community Centre/Nursing Department within the University jurisdiction.
(II) Criteria for Selection
(a) Selection for the Ph.D. The program will be based on merit either by an entrance or by M.Sc. (Nursing) (minimum 60% marks).
(b) If the University opts to conduct an entrance examination then selection for the Ph.D. The program of the candidate will be based on
i. Entrance test marks obtained out of 90 marks. (Minimum weightage pass marks for entrance will be 60% of 90 i.e. 54).
ii. 5 marks for candidates possessing M.Phil. in Nursing.
iii. 5 marks weightage for publications.
