“New Life” Health and Education Society and “NEW LIFE” Institute of Nursing, as the metronymic “NEW LIFE” itself exemplifies the pure intention of sprouting a seed on a soil which introduces a new designate to our world. Being a working organization in this tribal affected and remote area itself is a dignified commodity. So we put our hand forward in these sectors with a foresight to improve the current status of health and its education to its ultimate hierarchy as it ever can go.
“New Life” Health and Education Society is a Working and unceasingly active organization since its inception from 3rd December 2011. Since then it has performed and organized diverse health programmes through out the state evidently seen by its small but healthy contribution to the society and annual reports.
To exhilarate the status of health education to its proximity as much as we can, came the foundation of “New Life” institute of Nursing on 20th July 2015. Through this institute we want to carry forward the legacy of contribution by Florence Nightingale in the field of modern nursing which is the art and mould for maintaining and promoting health of an individual,family, society and ultimately the nation

New Life Health & Education Society is one of the main fore-coming pre-requisites for a developed nation. In health sector too, it is the accessibility to health services in general and primary health services in particular that is in area of concern for one and all. Further there is also an urgent need to give a flip to preventive health care initiatives at the community level. New Life works in the field of education, health, economic up-liftment and the sports activities. It has conducted a no. of health camps, health and awareness programmes. As a part of extension of educational activities, the New Life Health & Education Society has started its nursing institute in the year 2015-16 named as “New Life Institute of Nursing” with G.N.M. programme and B. Sc. NursingStarted in Academic Session 2018-2019.
New Life Institute of Nursing is a unit of New Life Health & Education Society a registered society established primarily for the benefit of the societies as well as communities. It is open to all persons irrespective of religion, caste or community and is affiliated to Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, Directorate of Medical Education of C.G. The three (3) years Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery and four (4) year degree course in Basic B.Sc. Nursing is so designed that the nurses may be skilled not only in bedside care but also understand the principles of health and prevention of disease. During the course of this training it is expected that they acquire a good deal of experience in the development of health teaching, in the out-patient department and wards of the hospital, Maternal and Child health clinics, home-visit, both at rural and urban areas.

Also, New Life Health & Education Society is providing skill training to the under-previliged needful students who are somehow not able to attain higher education and are vocationally not stable. We help such students to attain skill trainings and make some earning using the skill based technical educations on their own to serve themselves and their families.
The role of nurse as a member of health team is very vital. The doctor makes the diagnosis and prescribes drugs but the total care of the patient has to be managed by the nurse. Hence a great responsibility lies with the nurse.
Nursing care is generally viewed as a unique health service system which aims at providing care to the individuals in various conditions which cannot be managed alone by the family members.

Philosophy

New Life Institute of Nursing believes that,

  • Health is a state of well-being that enables a person to lead a physical, psychological, social and economically productive life. Health is a right of all the people. Individuals, families and communities have a responsibility towards maintaining their health.
  • Nursing contributes to the health services in a vital and significant way in the health care delivery system. It recognizes national health goals and is committed to participate in the implementation of national health policies and programmes. It aims at identifying health needs of the people, planning and providing quality care in collaboration with other health professionals and community groups.
  • Scope of nursing practice encompasses promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of care to people across their life span in wide variety of health care settings. Practice of nursing is based upon application of basic concepts and principles derived from the physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine and nursing.
  • Nursing is based on values of caring and aims to help individuals to attain independence in self-care.it necessitates development of compassion and understanding of human behavior among its practitioners to provide care with respect and dignity and protect the rights of individuals & groups.
  • Undergraduate nursing program is broad based education within an academic framework specifically directed to the development of critical thinking skills, competencies & standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in national health policy 2002.
  • The teacher have the responsibility to be a role model and create learning environment that enables students to acquire inquiry driven, self-directed learning and foster an attitude of life-long learning.
  • Undergraduate nursing education program prepares its students to become exemplary citizen by adhering to code of ethics and professional conduct at all times in fulfilling personal, social and professional obligations so as to respond to national aspirations.

Aims
   
The aims of the undergraduate nursing program is to:

  • Prepare nurses to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
  • Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical/public health setting.

Objectives
    
On completion of the four-year Basic B.Sc. nursing program the graduate will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individual and groups.
  • Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.
  • Demonstration critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in orders to provide quality care.
  • Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.
  • Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.
  • Practice within the framework of code ethics and professional conduct and acceptable standards of practice within legal boundaries.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups and members of the health team in order to the pro mote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical/ community health setting.
  • Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.
  • Demonstrate leadership and managerial skill in clinical/ community health settings.
  • Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.
  • Demonstrate awareness, interest and contribute towards advancement of self and of the profession.

Eligibility Criteria for admission (As Per Indian Nursing Council)

Basic B.Sc Nursing

  • The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
  • Minimum education:
    • 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core/English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.
    • Student shall be medically fit.
    • Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School with 45% marks.
    • Student shall be admitted once in a year.

RESERVATION POLICY:

  1. For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.
    Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and nursing expert in the panel which may decideWhether the candidates have the disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50%.

  2. 5% of total marks is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.
  3. Reservation SC/ST, OBC or any other shall be as per the state Govt. rules.

Note:Reservation shall be applicable within the sanctioned number of the seats by INC and not above it.

General Nursing and Midwifery

  1. Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:
    • 10+2 with 40% marks from any recognized board. However Science is preferable
    • Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government.
    • Registered ANM
    • 10+2 vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council
    • 10+2  Health care Science – Vocational stream from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
  2. Admission of students shall be once in a year.
  3. Students shall be medically fit.
  4. Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as on 31st December of that year)
  5. The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM/ for LHV, there is no age bar.
