Annals of Sanjoe College Of Nursing

Sanjoe College of Nursing recognizes he health needs, plan and provide comprehensive nursing care (preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative) in hospitals, clinics, health centres, schools and homes.

• • College secured sanction for conducting B.Sc. Nursing programme from statutory bodies, Kerala Nurses and Midwives council on 31st December 2003 and from Indian Nursing Council on 5th April 2005 with an annual intake of 50 students.

• • Prof (Sr.) Gilbert M.Sc. (n), M.Phil. Has been appointed as the first Principal and Sr. Sessi Maria M.Sc. (n) as the Vice Principal of Sanjoe College of Nursing.

• • College of Nursing started functioning in the new block of Sanjoe Hospital, Perumbavoor with 42 students in the 1st batch (2003-04) on 05-01-2004. Ceremonial blessings of the College hostel at Pulluvazhy was on 9th October 2004 and new College building on1st November 2006.College has been shifted to Pulluvazhy on 18th December 2006.

• • First batch of B.Sc. Nursing students passed out with 100% result and the passing out ceremony was on 20th June 2009.

• • M.Sc. Nursing programme in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Child Health Nursing has been started in the year 2011-12.

• • Many of our graduates have been working in Central Government and Sate Government institutions through Government recruitment, Public Service Commission Examinations and working across the world like Middle East, USA, Australia, New Zealand as Registered Nurses.

• • Our student Ms. Thasni Joseph has secured first rank in University Examination conducted by Kerala University of Health Sciences 2013-14.

• • Sanjoe College of Nursing has completed 10 years of dedicated service in the field of Nursing Education. Decennial celebration and inauguration of the Alumni Association was on 26/02/2014 with the active participation of our alumni students. 14th batch of B.Sc Nursing students passed out in 2019 with 100% result.

• • Sanjoe management Bid Adieu to beloved Vice Principal and HOD of OBG Rev. Sr. Sessi  Maria on 30/01/2018. Prof.Sr.Lissy M.D, HOD of Community Health Nursing joined as the Vice Principal on 01/02/2018.

• • After 16 years of inestimable service, Prof (Sr.) Gilbert retired on Dec 31st 2019. Prof. Sr Shefy F.C.C. M.sc. (n), M.Phil. LLB joined as the new Principal on 01/01/2020.

• • Prof. Sr. PO Jancy joined as new Principal and Prof. Sr Shefy F.C.C. M.sc. (n), M.Phil. LLB  took charge as college administrator on 1st June 2021.

  • After 1 and half year of excellent service, Prof.Sr. Shefy retired on 29/11/2021.
  • New academic year of 2021-22 Batch started as new semester wise revised curriculum with enhanced seats of  60 students.

Philosophy

Sanjoe College of Nursing is run by Franciscan Clarist Congregation (F.C.C) S.H province, Ernakulum, a Catholic Religious Association. The Congregation is founded in the year 1888 in Kerala upon the charisma of St. Francis Assisi and  St. Clare.Sacred Heart Province is one of the 24 Provinces of the Congregation having headquarters at Aluva, Ernakulam district. The main Apostolic activities of the Congregation are teaching, health care activities including hospitals and dispensaries, vocational training, family and community based developmental activities, rehabilitation of the visually and mentally challenged and care of drown-trodden members of the society.

San Joe College of Nursing is another mile stone in the path of service of F.C.C and golden feather in the crown of San Joe Hospital which is functioning with the following philosophy and objectives.

2. We believe that San Joe Hospital should provide health care services to all, irrespective of cast, creed and social status through inpatient, outpatient and rural health services and aid people to regain health and remain healthy, improving the quality of life.

4. We believe that health care service in San Joe Hospital give priority to people in low socio economic status and maintain the Franciscan spirit of fraternity and minority.

6. We believe that the health care service here has to reach all the people, all the time at the best level of care a hospital can offer with low cost.

8. We believe that the curriculum aims at developing and extending nursing competence to set higher goals in nursing and implement and evaluate care which ultimately reflect the consistently improving levels of health of the society and Nation.

10. We believe that San Joe College of Nursing affiliated to San Joe Hospital has to be an excellent Centre to offer training to nursing and Para – medical workers and for the health education of the public.
