Shrinidhi Institute Of Nursing
Just over a year ago, we became fascinated by the idea of building the institution to serve the nursing courses and offer the best values in educational world. We opened Shrinidhi Institution of Nursing in the year of 2008 in Bangalore. This institution provide various nursing courses such as M.Sc Nursing, Post B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Nursing, G.N.M (General Nursing and Midwifery). At Shrinidhi Nursing Institution, we believe there is a better way to learn new things. We focus on simplifying the nursing concepts through our well experienced faculty and management.

General Nursing and Midwifery
Philosophy
Nursing is one of the health professions which functions in concurrence with other health care organizations and maintain desirable standards of health.
Indian Nursing Council believes in the concept of health as laid down by the W.H.O. i.e., “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
The International Council of Nurses states that the unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge.
The Council recognizes that the nursing is a substantial portion of learning of the students is acquired in the health care field of practice.
The Council is strongly believes that it has a responsibility in helping the students to acquire pride in their profession besides keeping them abreast with current knowledge and professional trends for a successful career ahead.
Aim
- Enable nurses to function as efficient members of the health team, beginning with the competencies for first level positions in all kinds of health care setting.
- Help nurses to develop an ability to co-operate and co-ordinate with members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and rehabilitation of the sick.
- To deliver as a base for further professional education and specialization in nursing
- To develop nurses to keep pace with latest professional and technological developments and use these for providing nursing care services.
Objectives
The nurse on the completion of GNM course will be able to-
- Demonstrate competency in providing in health care to individual, sick or well
- Appraise the nursing need of clients from birth to death.
- Arrange and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs.
- Provide effective nursing care for maintaining best possible level of health in all possible level.
- Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
- Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skills in her work.
- Identify the need for continuing education for professional development.
Eligibility Criteria
- 1.Minimum and maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively. For ANM / LHV, there is no age bar.
- 2.Minimum education-
- 10+2 class passed or its equivalent preferably with science (physics, chemistry and Biology) subjects with aggregate 45% marks.
- Those who have cleared 10+2 vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
- ANM training i.e. 10+11/2 years training should also have passed +2 or its equivalent examination.
- 1.In addition to the above, admission procedure can be laid down by concerned State Nursing Council / Nursing Examination Boards.
Duration of the Course-
The Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery shall be of three years s duration.
There should be a preliminary period of 12 weeks. During this time the student will attend the wards for observation and supervised practice not exceeding 16 hours per exemption for ANM / LHV / Female Health Workers.
Six months exemption in training shall be during the third year ( in midwifery) to those-
- Who have undergone ANM training of 18 months or 2 years recognized by University.
- LHV’s with 21/2years of training recognized by INC.
Training Period and Time Distribution
Duration of the course:
The Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery shall be of three year and six months duration.
There should be a preliminary period of 12 weeks. During this time the student will attend the wards for observation and Supervised practice not exceeding 16 hours per exemption for ANMs/LHVs/Female Health workers
- Six months exemption in training shall be given during the third year (in midwifery) to those: Who have undergone ANM training of 18 months or 2 years recognized by INC.
- LHV’s with 2 ½ years of training recognized by INC.
Therefore duration of training shall be of 3 years.
Syllabus:
Same as prescribed for GNM trainees in all three years and Internship period.

Maximum hours per week per student shall be 36 to 40 including class room instructions and clinical field practice.

Note: Out of 52 weeks in one academic year, total of 6 weeks are deducted. 4 weeks vacation, one week preparatory leave and one week for examinations. Sundays and gazette holidays are to be considered as holidays.
Vacation and Holidays
Annual Vacation : 30 days
Sick Leave : 10 days per annum
Preparatory Leave : 7 days per annum
Sick leave cannot be accumulated from year to year.
Admissions
A request for the Prospectus and Application Form should be made to the Chairman, along with prescribed fee. The duly filled Application along with necessary documents should be send with prescribed registration fee addressed to the chairman, Shrinidhi Institute Of Nursing.
The Candidates are asked to read this prospectus before filling up the application for the purpose of admission. Application Form is attached to the prospectus. The completed application Form shall be sent to the college or Office along with all the supporting documents. After scrutinizing your documents, the selection shall be made.
All information given in the Application Form should be correct. Any false information or suppression of any facts in the Application cases disqualified. If we come to know that any false information has been furnished any time of the course while undergoing the program, she/he will be liable to the termination, beside other action by the institution as decided, may be deemed fit. Under any circumstances the fee once paid shall not be refunded.
Eligible candidates will be called for the interview. Candidates coming for interview should bring all the relevant certificates in original. Candidates with out the original Certificates will not be allowed to attend for the interview. During the interview, weighatage will be given to candidates who have served in areas of need, or who are sponsored; all such claims have to be supported by relevant Certificates.

Hostel Facility : Shrinidhi Institution of Nursing is running its own campus hostel facility separately for both boys and girls.
Sports and Recreational Facilities : We offer both indoor and outdoor sports activities for our students and encouraging them in interested areas of skill & sports.
Transportation : The institution offer own transportation facility for the students to support during their academic courses.
Library : We facilitate well organized library with all types of book for student reference. And also journals, news papers are subscribed to support the students periodically.
Computer Lab : The organization is having well equipped computer lab for the students with cyberspace facilities.
Student Health Programme : A comprehensive health programme is available to all students. The preventive health programmers include physical examination, routine laboratory test and immunizations to maintain immunity.
