Introduction

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT) is an Institute of repute in the state of Karnataka founded by Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust (Sri KET) in 1986 . The institute offers nine B.E. degree programs in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science & Engg., Industrial Engineering & Management, Telecommunication, Information Science and Bio Technology and four Masters Programs in Computer Applications, Business Administration, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Electronics.

The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. Sir MVIT is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institution. Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Department of Biotechnology are declared R&D centers by the university.

Sir MVIT is situated on a vast campus of 133 acres on the Bellary road near Air Force station, Yelahanka, close to Bengaluru International Airport (21 km from Bangalore city station). The institute has 2800 students & over 260 well-experienced faculty members, fully equipped labs (including project labs), seminar halls (For each department adequately equipped with multimedia facilities).

With well qualified and motivated faculty, state-of-art laboratory facilities, well-equipped library and high speed Internet browsing center with connectivity and almost 100% placement, it is no wonder that the institute has been ranked No. 1 among the engineering colleges in the State by the reputed magazine `Dataquest’. All our departments spread over on 53.8 hectares of greenery and serenity, are well connected by optical fiber backbone network. The Institute has, on its campus, Men’s & Women’s hostels, 100 bed general hospital, Ladies amenities center, staff quarters, Guest house, Cafeteria, outdoor sports facility spread over 12.1 hectares and an indoor games complex. The Institute power requirements are met by a dedicated HT power connection from BESCOM and Captive Power generating units. The institute is connected to all the parts of the city by its own fleet of buses. All the students admitted to the institute are covered by insurance for life and medical care.

Admission Procedure

Sir MVIT admission will be conducted on the basis of ranks secured in the KCET/COMEDK/JEE Mains. Sir MVIT is an institute of repute founded by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust (Sri KET) in 1986. It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college offers courses in UG and PG in various specializations like BTech, MTech,MBA and MCA.

Entrance Exams 2023

Sir MVIT admission will take place in the online mode. The admission will be based on entrance exams like KCET, COMEDK and JEE Mains for UG and PG courses. 

UG Admission 2023

Sir MVIT offers 8 different specializations in the engineering discipline at the undergraduate level. The duration of the course is 4 years long. The college also facilitates lateral entry into the course which occurs through the KEA. The intake of the course is 120 students in each specialization annually. 

UG Admission Eligibility Criteria

The details for the eligibility criteria for admission into various UG courses at Sir MVIT are given below

• Admission to the undergraduate programs is made based on the merit rank obtained by the qualified student in the entrance test conducted by the Karnataka State Government (KCET) or COMEDK.
• The minimum qualification for application is having a 45% aggregate in the 12th standard, with physics and mathematics as the compulsory subjects.
• The reservations are made as follows. 

1. KCET- 45% of the total seats
2. COMEDK- 30% of the total seats
3. Management Quota- 25% of the total seats

PG Admission 2023

Sir MVIT offers 3 postgraduate courses with various specializations at the postgraduate level. The disciplines in which the courses are offered include technology, business administration, and computer applications. The duration of the MBA and M.Tech courses is 2 years, whereas it is 3 years for the MCA course. Lateral entry into the MCA course is also facilitated by the institute through KEA. 

PG Admission Eligibility Criteria

The details for admission into various PG courses at Global Institute of Technology Jaipur are given below

• Admission to the postgraduate courses is granted on the basis of the entrance examination for the respective fields.
• M.Tech aspirants are required to give either GATE or PGCET. MBA aspirants are required to give PGCET, CMAT, or KMAT.
• MCA aspirants are required to give KMAT or PGCET. All applicants are required to complete their bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 50% marks at the qualifying examination.
• Students under reservation are allowed a relaxation of 5%.

The training and placement cell of the Sir MVIT is engaged in developing the students in all skills needed by recruiting companies and placing them in top companies. Students are also advised to attain the seminars and workshops etc. Right from the fourth semester onwards, regular training is conducted on total personality development and personal grooming of the students. Minimum 35 to 40 top companies visit the college every year between 90% to 100% students are placed.

• 313 Students picked up by COGNIZANT during 2011 batch

• WIPRO Technologies visited to college 2 times for recruitment of 2010 batch students. On their first visit on 5/6/2010, the company picked up 84 students & second time they visited on 21/8/2010 for left over students..

• 19 MCA students got selected under “Internship cum placement package” by Aricent, Fidelity, Cerner & Accenture through campus recruitment drives of our placement cell in 2010-2011. During internship these students will get stipend ranging between 5000/ to 20000/ per month..

• 37 CIVIL students got placed in L&T & 12 in NCC urban in campus interview conducted in our college.

Scholarships

Fee Waiver Scheme

The State Government has started a fee waiver scheme to help the economically poor but meritorious students. Further information regarding this can be obtained from the office of the Registrar.

Education Loans

Getting Education is no longer an insurmountable problem these days. Education loans are available to the needy and deserving students from the Nationalized Banks at reasonable rates of interest. Theses loans are repayable after the completion of the degree/diploma.

Financial Help

It is a motto with the management of SMVIT, Bangalore, “Poverty would not be allowed to stand in the way of the completion of the education of meritorious students. Such students are generously helped. Academically intelligent and poor students to acquire higher education by giving them financial help in the form of tuition fee waiver. Relaxation in tuition fee is also given to merit position holders in the qualifying examinations/competitive examinations and position holders in the University examinations. The parents of meritorious students are also honoured along with the students in the annual functions of the Colleges.
