WELCOME TO VIJAYA COLLEGE OF NURSING
Vijaya School of Nursing is our initiation into the field of Nursing Education. Vijaya College of Nursing, Gurugiri campus, situated on hilltop spread over 30 acres of verdant land was started in the year 2005. The beautiful and spacious buildings were designed by famous architect Mr.Sanker with a new academic perspective. Here, nature's serenity coupled with meditative ambience boosts the quest for excellence. The Post graduation programmes in all specialties were started in the year 2009.

PHILOSOPHY
Vijaya College of Nursing believes that., Health is a state of wellbeing that enables a person to lead a physically, psychologically, socially and economically productive life. We also believe that health is a fundamental right of all the people and they have a responsibility towards maintaining their health.
Nursing contributes to the health service in vital and significant ways in health care delivery system. It aims at identifying health needs of the people and providing quality care in collaboration with other health professionals and community groups.
The scope of Nursing practice encompasses provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of care to people across their life span in wide variety of health care settings.
UG and PG programme in Nursing prepare the nurses to improve the quality of Nursing practice, Nursing education, Nursing administration and Nursing research.
The teachers have the responsibility to be role model and create learning environment that enables students to acquire inquiry driven, self directed learning and faster an attitude of life long learning.
Nursing education programme prepares its Graduates and Post Graduates to become exemplary citizens by adhering to the code of ethics and professional conduct at all times in fulfilling personal, social and professional obligations so as to respond to national and international aspirations.
Management and faculty have the responsibility towards nurses in giving care for individual and society during illness and wellness.

RULES & REGULATIONS

All students are expected to comply with rules and regulations of the College of Nursing. Any student who indulge in indiscipline and ragging or fall short of essential qualities may be withdrawn from the training with immediate effect.

• All the students should maintain discipline.
• In case of genuine reasons for leave prior permission from the class teacher and the principal is required.
• Each student is responsible to pay all the fees and other dues in time.
• Students are bound wear the uniform prescribed by the college.
• Students are not allowed to have visitors during working hours.
• Sickness should be reported immediately to the class teacher by the Parent or Guardian. Medical certificate to be produced for leave sanctioned to the class teacher and intimation to be given to the Principal.
• Students should participate and take initiative for leadership in professional and social activities.
• Students should not participate in strike or indulge in acts prejudicial to the interest of the institution or involve in gross indiscipline or immoral act.
• Rules and regulations of the hostel shall have to be followed and the order of the warden shall have to be obeyed.
• Mobile phones and other personal items such as walkmans or cameras are not allowed in the hostel, classrooms and clinical areas.
• Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the campus and will be seriously dealt with.
• Any female staff or student of the College if having any complaint of sexual harassment may report to the Principal.

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR B.Sc NURSING

• Applicant should not more than 25 years and not less than 17 years of age, on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
• The minimum educational requirement shall be passing of higher secondary School Certificate Examination (12 Years Course) or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), Pre –degree Examination (10+2) or an equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 50% aggregate marks
• Candidates shall be medically fit

M.SC NURSING

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR M.SC NURSING

• The candidates should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council
• The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of regular degree course in nursing - (B.Sc Nursing/B.Sc Hons. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc Nursing), with minimum of 55% aggregate marks, in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
• Minimum one year of experience after Basic B.Sc Nursing. One year compulsory nursing service/internship after successful completion of four year B.Sc Nursing can be considered as experience.
• Minimum one year of experience prior or after regular Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
• Candidate shall be medically fit.
