About Us

The Woodland Institute of Nursing under the umbrella of Woodland Hospital, Shillong is a private Nursing School. This Institute is set-up under the aegis of “North East Hub Society” (NEHUBS), a prominent registered Non Government Organization (NGO) Shillong, Meghalaya India.
The Meghalaya Nursing Council (MNC) granted permission for the setting up the GNM Nursing Course vide Letter No.MNC/F17/02/2006 dated 22nd March 2006 and permission for intake of 30 student s and commencement of course vide Letter No.MNC/F1/1/2007 dated 1st February 2007.The Indian Nursing Council (INC) also granted its permission vide Certificate No. 18-21/3218-INC dated 4th June 2007 w .e. f. 11th April 2007
Also for the Basic B.Sc Nursing Course The Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi granted permission vide certificate no. 18-21/6083- INC,dated 25th February 2011 .The Meghalaya Nursing Council also granted permission to start the course with an intake of 40 students and commencement of course vide letter no.MNC/1 /15/05 dated 3rd September 2010.
Same with Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Course The Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi granted permission vide certificate no. 18-21/8240 INC dated 11,h September 2012. The Meghalaya Nursing Council also granted permission to start the course with an intake of 30 students per year Vide Letter No 1 /15/05/1325 Dated 8th September 2011.
The Institute is affiliated to North East Hill University (NEHU) a Central University Shillong for both Basic B.Sc Nursing Course and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing course respectively.

  • Woodland Institute of Nursing believes that Basic B.sc Nursing program will impact nursing knowledge and practical training to enhance the Nursing profession in developing competencies and skills to meet the ever demanding advancement in medical sciences in the care of the individual in illness and in health. This Institute also believes that our graduate nurses will be productive citizen and be able to provide quantity nursing care locally and globally.

Objectives

On completion of Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree programme the graduates will be able to:

  • 1. Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative system and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
  • 2. Demonstrate understanding of lifestyle and other factors which affect health of individuals and groups.
  • 3. Provide nursing care base on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.
  • 4. Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.
  • 5. Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.
  • 6. Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.
  • 7. Practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct, and acceptable standard of practice within the legal boundaries.
  • 8. Communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
  • 9. Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical/community health settings.
  • 10. Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.
  • 11. Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical/community health settings.
  • 12. Conduct need based research studies in various setting and utilized research findings to improve quality care and contribute towards advancement of self and the profession.
  • 13. To makes them aware of professional nursing association and for uprising personal development.

Course Offered:-

General Nursing & Midwifery

Eligibility For Admission:

  • Age -17 to 35 year
  • Sex- Female preferably unmarried/ widow/divorce without encumbrance will also be considered.
  • Education Qualification: 10+2 Science/Arts/Commerce with 40% aggregate.

B Sc. Nursing

Eligibility For Admission:

  • Age- minimum 17-25 years on or before 31st December of the year admission.
  • Admission eligible for female
  • Educational Qualification - 10+2 (Science) with of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE)
  • 40% for ST/SC/ OBC Candidates.

Post Basic B Sc. Nursing

 

Eligibility For Admission:

To be eligible for admission to this course, a candidate shall have:

  • Passed the higher secondary or senior secondary or intermediate or 10 + 2 or an equivalent examination organized by the university for this purpose. Those who have done 10+1 in or before 1986, will be eligible for admission.
  • Obtained a certificate in General nursing and midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M with the State Nurses Registration Council.
