The Indian Institute of Technology does not need any introduction. It is an autonomous public technical university located across India. This is under the jurisdiction of the government of India and one of the prestigious engineering colleges. There are a total number of 23 IITs all over India.
Studying at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is a dream of every engineering student in India. The IIT colleges in India were formed to prepare scientists and engineers. In 1951, the first-ever Indian Institute of Technology was established in Kharagpur, West Bengal. They are autonomous public institutes for higher technical education, most popular for their B. Tech programs. There are 23 total IITs present in India governed by the Institute of Technology Act 1961 and are declared as important institutes of the nation by the Indian parliament.
Admission into all the IIT colleges in India is carried out through the entrance examinations, namely JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Applicants must appear and clear these two phases - firstly, JEE Main and then JEE Advanced in their first attempt conducted by JoSSA. Qualifying in both examinations is compulsory to secure a seat in the institutes. Getting admitted to an IIT institute is highly competitive as many applicants appear for the exam, and there are a limited number of seats.
B.Tech Course in IITs through JEE Main
1. The acceptance of B.Tech in India is taken at the national and regional levels with the help of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
2. JEE Main is an entrance exam to provide admissions to the eligible students for in various degree programs at IIT.
3. Minimum eligibility for admission to the B.Tech course is to pass Class 12 in compulsory with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biotechnology / Biology and then take the JEE Main entry exam.
4. Students must also complete the JEE Key Eligibility Criteria in order to sit for the entrance exam. Typically, candidates need to have at least 60% aggregate and in each course taken together to be admitted to IITs in India.
5. Finally, students who cancel the JEE Main Cut Off (Eligibility) may appear on JoSAA Advisory and select the IITs they require based on the college's prescribed standards.

Eligibility criteria
Once you have made your mind for applying to engineering colleges you must gain some knowledge about the eligibility criteria for applying or to get admission to the course. 1. The applying candidate will be only eligible for taking admission if he\she have passed 12th or equivalent.
2. Diploma holder candidates are also eligible to apply engineering course.
3. The applying candidate must have physics, chemistry and mathematics included subjects in their qualifying exam.
4. Candidates who are at the time appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible for applying.
5. There will be no age limit prescribed to apply for JEE Main 2022 exam.
Counseling procedure
The IIT 2021 counselling process will be conducted through 4 channels such as Direct Admission of Students of Abroad (DASA), JEE Main, National Talent Search and Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (NK) and other Olympiad. There will be 3 rounds of counseling in total which includes two rounds consisting choice and applicants must be present at the counseling center and must carry the required documentation for certification.
