Types of GNM Nursing Course
The three common types of GNM that are most pursued in India are Basic, Post Basic, and Distance.
Basic GNM
The most common type of GNM is the basic GNM course. It is a bachelor's degree that trains the students to acquire nursing aptitudes to administer the required knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive nursing care to the patients for various types of diseases. The course is specially formed to make general nurses who are able to efficiently perform in the health team in various hospitals and other organizations.
The course lasts for 3 years, where candidates have to come through 10+2 exams with a science stream with a minimum of 40% aggregate marks. Also, the age of the candidates should be between 17 to 35 years. Also, it is necessary for every student to be medically fit.
Post Basic GNM
Candidates in the post-basic GNM or post-basic BSc Nursing explore advanced knowledge. This knowledge is rendered via classroom along with educational visits and clinical teachings. There is a good scope of post-basic GNM.
